A Fine Quality Mid 19th Century, Victorian Period, Walnut Occasional Games Table, Or Lamp Table, Having Octagonal Shaped Top with Fabulous Specimen Marble Chess Board Inset To Highly Figured Outer Banding, Raised On Elegant Spiral Twist Turned Column with Attractive Carved Decoration, Terminating On Four Moulded Cabriole Legs with Elegant Scrolling Toes. This is just a lovely piece of furniture which makes one smile to look at. Clearly constructed in one of the best mid 19th century cabinet making workshops it is made using what would have been the best available timbers and that is not really a great surprise as clearly the cabinet maker wanted to do justice to the wonderful piece of specimen marble which he was making it to house. Now of course the variety of uses are endless. It makes a lovely side table, lamp table, bedside table, or of course an occasional table for pulling out and playing chess at. Both the marble itself and the rest of the table are in very good condition with just a few small historic blemishes, as one would expect on an item of this age. Certainly it is more than fit for purpose. As with all items which we offer for sale this table has been inspected and attended to by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers, receiving a natural wax polish to ensure it is in optimum condition before being offered for sale, therefore it is ready for immediate placement within the home.
