Colored Birch Db51 Sideboard By Cees Braakman For Pastoe, 1950s

Chairish

$4,505

Nowadays hard to find, this original DB51 small birch wood sideboard. It was designed by Cees Braakman for Pastoe (Netherlands) in the early fifties. Charming patina on the aged birch wood, along with an attractive blue-grey and off-white color combination on the sliding doors. Clearly inspired by the designs of Eames and Knoll, Braakman and Pastoe introduced bent plywood techniques in their first line of modern furniture. This colorful DB51 “Combex” cabinet is also influenced by European modernists such as Charlotte Perriand and Arne Vodder. This piece offers practical storage combined with clean, minimalist Dutch design. Manufacturer’s marks are present on the back, and the piece is illustrated in the Pastoe catalogue of 1956. In ready-to-use condition, perfect refinished doors. Solid, fully functional, and in good overall appearance. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
