Gustavian-Style Sideboard, Sweden, Early 19th CenturyThis elegant Gustavian-style sideboard captures the calm refinement and harmonious proportions characteristic of Swedish Neoclassicism in the early 19th century. Crafted from oak and partly walnut, it showcases excellent craftsmanship and the restrained, timeless aesthetic typical of the Gustavian tradition. The sideboard is designed with two drawers positioned above double doors, each framed with delicate mouldings. Both the drawers and the doors are equipped with original working locks and keys. The surface is finished in a pale blue-grey tone, featuring a beautifully aged patina that enhances its historical character. The decorative laurel wreath motif on the front panel was hand-painted and faithfully recreated based on preserved fragments of the original artwork, restoring the piece’s authentic charm and stylistic coherence.Standing on short, turned feet, the sideboard combines an impression of lightness with solid construction. Its subtle finish and muted colour palette give it a serene and timeless presence, making it a distinguished example of Scandinavian furniture design from the Gustavian era.Origin: SwedenPeriod: Early 19th century (circa 1830)Style: Gustavian / Swedish NeoclassicismMaterial: Oak and partly walnut, hand-paintedFinish: Pale blue-grey patina with hand-painted laurel wreath (recreated from original painting fragments)Condition: Excellent restored condition; natural patina and traces of age preservedLocks: Drawers and doors with original working locks and keysDimensions:Height: 100 cmWidth: 146 cmDepth: 53 cm
