This later 19 century antique cabinets was retrieved from Gansu province, a province in north-central China. Its city of Jiayuguan is known for the striking Overhanging Great Wall and imposing Jiayuguan Pass fortress complex, both part of the Great Wall of China. This beautiful cabinet was used to store the bedding and linen in the old time. The painting on three panels of this cabinet demonstrates the artisan’s commanding skill of shui-mo (水墨, "water and ink") also loosely termed watercolour or brush painting. With red square frames, three panels are transformed into 3 beautiful traditional Chinese mountain & water painting. 3 compartments can be accessed either from the doors or top.
