Sideboard with playing cards. Lacquered and spotted body. The cabinet seen from above is half-moon shaped. The top follows the profile of the cabinet and is made of black Galaxy granite speckled with gold. In the centre, the doors are worked in Coromandell, an ancient technique that involved several passes of lacquer to achieve thickness and then carving and sculpting. In this work one can speak of a masterpiece the lacquer at a considerable thickness and the figures carved can be understood as low relief. The subsequent work opens up to the world of high decoration with a base of metallic leaves and lacquer expresses itself in a triumph of colours and exclusive patinas. The style is art deco and the workmanship rivals the concepts of the great decorators of the early 20th century such as Jan Dunand, Gastone Suisse and others who made use of ancient decoration techniques and adapted them to a contemporary taste of the time. The sideboard dates back to 1990 and was made by the Lam Lee Group of Dallas. The cabinet is part of a small series and was made at the request of a particular client of high prestige. The Lam Lee Group ceased operations in 2007 and among many merits boasts the Harvard art for achievement in 2003. Comes with original label.Packaging with bubble wrap and cardboard boxes is included. If the wooden packaging is needed (fumigated crates or boxes) for US and International Shipping, it's required a separate cost (will be quoted separately).
