“Fashion is not an ornament, it is architecture. It isn’t enough that a dress be beautiful, It has to be built like a building, because like a building it is the materialisation of an IDEA.” Roberto Capucci – La ricerca Della regalità.In MILLA – the cabinet designed for MEDULUM by Milanese designer Filippo Protasoni – a simple ribbon ofnatural-fibre fabric transforms into a decoration and untangles its weave – at once both clean and geometric, tactile and textural – along the front doors of the piece of furniture, with their smooth black walnut surfaces. A delicate realisation once again proposes the weave understood in its primordial form, with the threads intersecting on the frame individually, by hand, with the spaces which gradually fill up until they become surfaces, the textural contrast in the dialoguebetween the fabric and the wood is emphasised by the presence of slender support points made of brass:structural elements with a sleek and refined linearity emerge gleaming as they reflect sparks of light. Likepins in a dress. The coming together of two giants of Italian know-how creates an unexpected and surprising dialogue. A piece of furniture which weaves together the profound culture of the fabric of the Italian fashion industry and the strong manufacturing expertise which sets apart the furniture sector.Like the skilfully woven weft of a tailormade piece of attire, in MILLA the fabric strip lies at the centre of the design: it defines its spaces and interprets them, becoming the narrative voice. The IDEA takes shape and becomes architecture; it is not just cloth, but rather a thought.Sizes available— MB183.L W183 x H42 x D43 cm— MB222.L W222 x H42 x D43 cm— MA183.L W183 x H61 x D43 cm— MA222.L W222 x H61 x D43 cmMATERIALI / MATERIALSVeneered wood, solid wood, ribbon, varnished satin brass.
