Postmodern Black And White Sideboard By Wim Wilson For Castelijn, 1960s

Chairish

$3,004

Carefully balanced proportion and absence of decoration clearly comes together in this Dutch design classic; A very elegant sideboard produced by Castelijn, design Wim Wilson. This sustainable piece of furniture is from late sixties, for that time a very futuristic, postmodern style with 1980ies hallmarks. Great black and white color scheme, easy matching in all types of interior. The aluminium is not too striking metallic looking, it's light grey looking indoor with a very subtle alu shade over it, very appealing. The sideboard is wall mounted. It is quite easy to mount by using the wood bar that comes with the sideboard. Very good condition with minimal marks. No denting in the aluminium sliding doors. Both doors open and close smoothly, all drawers and shelves inside are complete. Together with other Dutch modernist furniture companies such as Artifort, Pastoe and Spectrum, Castelijn communicate the principles of good design to a broader public during the sixties and seventies of the 20th century. The origin for use of matted alumium in furinture design can be found in the work of Dieter Rams ( Vitsoe) and Horst Brüning. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
