An exceptionally large provincial French sideboard or enfilade dating from around 1800. Louis XV style. Crafted from solid walnut. Restored ready for everyday use. An authentic piece of French provincial furniture, a testament to traditional craftsmanship using high-quality materials. A moulded walnut body with side panelling, standing on six feet, featuring a base frame with multiple curves, a four-door front with a double-curved centre section, rounded corners and a matching top panel (‘plateau à panneaux’). The four doors are made in frame construction with curved panels, two of which are even curved, hung on large external iron hinges. Inside, the sideboard is fitted with a continuous shelf. The back panel of the piece is also crafted in the traditional frame-and-panel construction. Dimensions Height: 94.5 cm / 37.20 in. Width: 286 cm / 112.60 in. Depth: 59 cm or 65 cm / 23.23 in or 25.59 in. Shelf depth: 48–54.5 cm / 18.90–21.46 in. Shelf height: 30.5 cm / 12.01 in. Good condition with slight age-related signs of wear, including old woodworm tunnels (not active!) and visible repairs. The fittings are probably not entirely original. Furthermore, the key escutcheon on the right-hand door is fitted upside down, as the lock behind it is also fitted in the wrong orientation. The door panels have warped slightly over time, so that whilst they close, a narrow gap forms between the door and the cabinet opening (see photos). The upper frame section of a curved cabinet door has been replaced. The entire surface has been carefully cleaned, treated and sealed with a wax polish. The furniture cannot be dismantled for transport.
