Spåna S140-GDPine wood credenza, in scandinavian contemporary style, made to order. Pine veneered structure covered with pine shingles with lime stone top. Cleaved shingles of pine is a traditional technique for roofing. Especially selected logs are split into four parts, cleaved into 6mm thin shavings and then placed so that they overlap each other and thereby draining the water from the roof. Apart from the stunning surface the shingles create on the cabinet, using shingles is a way to draw attention to the material in the hope that the traditional craftsmanship can survive on anything other than old churches. Designed and first exhibited in 2013. The Spåna cabinet is made with selected shingles from Helsingland (north of Sweden) and an optional limestone top from Slite Stenhuggeri on the island of Gotland, pine cabinet. S140-GD is equipped with one top row of three drawers and three doors underneath.
