Sideboard in Elm by Olavi Hänninen for Mikko Nupponen, Finland, 1958This large credenza is crafted from solid elm and features a simplified design that highlights the natural beauty and grain of the wood. It includes three doors, shelves, and drawers. The high-leg base adds an appealing touch to the sturdy cabinet. Each door showcases the elm wood's organic and natural appearance, while the drawers are fitted with large metal handles that beautifully complement the dark-stained elm. The sideboard is in excellent original condition, exhibiting only minor wear consistent with its age and use.Olavi Tapio Hänninen was a Finnish designer and interior architect recognized for his modernist creations, which included furniture, trams, and church silverware. He won a gold medal at the 11th Milan Triennale in 1957 and received the State of Finland Award for Industrial Design in 1977.
