This elegant sideboard, crafted by a master cabinet maker in Italy during the late 1940s, was custom-designed for a private residence just outside Florence. The design is attributed to Maurizio Tempestini. The raised sideboard/buffet is distinguished by an interesting blend of straight lines and more organically shaped elements. The entire piece is executed in solid and veneered walnut wood. The storage part consists of two shelved compartments, each with a single door with two brass hinges. Four centrally placed pull out drawers. Each drawer and door features a single brass handle, organically shaped and reminiscent of a horseshoe. The two elegantly profiled legs add a playful and airy quality to the piece. The two distinct feet with an abstract paw-like shape complete the design. The sideboard is in very good, restored condition. Refinished with a slightly glossy finish. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
