Antique steps concealing a commode. The steps are mahogany with red tooled leather treads. The center step pulls forward and flips open to reveal a chamber pot. It has carved feet, carved top rail with acanthus details and brass hardware. You can use the piece as a side table, steps for a high bed or as a step ladder in your library to reach tall shelves. MADE in England, mid 19th C. NO Markings. Manufacturer unknown. MEASURES 30" x 22" x 29" Good antique condition. The steps are strong and sturdy but well used. There is a great deal of wear, scuffs and scratches on leather and wood and what looks like a bit of missing veneer. The brass handle is corroded. We've included lots of pictures to document the condition. The bowl is a contemporary replacement.
