Very sturdy and decorative.Model after François-Honoré-Georges Jacob-Desmalter(January 6, 1770 in Paris; - August 15, 1841 in Paris)The French cabinetmaker François-Honoré-Georges Jacob-Desmalter was known for producing furniture decorated with saber motifs, particularly after Napoleon's proclamation as Emperor of the French. His firm's work, known as a supplier to the imperial court, was depicted on the throne and chairs for Napoleon I, featuring the crossed saber motif. Although the furniture itself is not the main focus, you can find more information about one such piece on the Victoria and Albert Museum website.The cabinetmaker you mention was not known for making sabers, but the context of the saber motif is generally the representation of the military power of the New Empire.
