Materials: Base matt lacquered polyuretane, top marble and resin carvings.Designer and artist Elena Salmistraro takes her inspiration from the historical period between the 1940s and 1960s. During those years the world was a victim of the Cold War and afraid of the imminent nuclear catastrophe, but , despite the scary climate, the public found the strength to imagine a better future.Bold and graphic shapes linked to the fear of the atom were recurrent in the artistic expression of the time as a symbol of the common will to change people’s destiny and defeat the overwhelming sense of fear.The Scapin Collezioni collection by Elena Salmistraro reflects these neo-tribal and post atomic symbols through precious inlays and innovative resin carvings on marble surfaces.
