The Earth Stool with Backrest by Mater is the result of a new, innovative, waste-to-value technique. Designed by Danish architect Eva Harlou, this stool is a comfortable, eco-conscious addition to spaces with a handsome, minimally styled feel. Using a technique developed in collaboration with the Danish Technological Institute and with support from the University of Copenhagen, the waste materials used to make the backrest and seat of this chair are mixed into a unique compound suitable for press molding. This method is designed to reuse resources more efficiently and results in a gracefully curved backrest and simple seat that embrace elegant and timeless Scandinavian design elements.
