Hand-carved from a single, solid block of wood, this antique African stool has a unique personality and abstract form - as much a work of sculpture as it is a seat or table. The petite stool follows woodworking traditions of the Oromo people of Ethiopia, known for their sculptural stools with arched tripod legs and gently cupped seats. Shaped from the cross-section of a tree stump, the wooden stool is decorated only by ringed grain patterns at the seat and the timeworn patina of a century of use.
