The First Edition PK91 Folding Stools, designed by Poul Kjærholm and produced by E. Kold Christensen, embody the purity of Danish modernism. Kjærholm, known for his minimalist aesthetic and exceptional attention to detail, designed the PK91 in 1961, drawing inspiration from ancient folding stools found in Egyptian and Greek antiquity. E. Kold Christensen, Kjærholm’s longtime collaborator, was responsible for manufacturing these first editions, which are highly sought after due to their superior craftsmanship and rarity. Priced Individually. 2 available. The stools are slightly different heights: #1. 22” W x 17.75”D x 17.5”H #2. 23”W x 17.75”D x 15.75” HThe stools feature a matte chrome-plated stainless steel frame—Kjærholm’s signature material—engineered with a subtle twist, allowing the folded structure to align perfectly. The foldable design is achieved through an ingenious joint at the center of the cross-frame. The seat, crafted from canvas, softens the coolness of the steel with a warm, tactile contrast. These stools are icons of mid-20th-century design, standing at the intersection of art and utility.Condition: Good vintage condition, with light oxidation to the steel frames. The canvas seats vary in color and display wear and staining throughout, as shown in photos. Stamped with maker's mark.
