Designed under wartime material constraints in 1943, the Jens Risom Stool from Knoll endures today with an unchanged silhouette covered in an elegant weave of innovative material. Design icon Jens Risom sees good design as a creative effort to successfully solve problems. In the early 40s, Risom noticed the lack of furniture and acted upon it, crafting a modern piece originally from maple and parachute webbing. Here, wood endures with a tapered leg setup that creates a dynamic silhouette. A curved seat rest pleases against the contours of the lower body. Sunbrella fabric is substituted for parachute webbing on the seat’s beautiful perpendicular weave. This fabric fights against fading, stains, and water.
