Mid-Century Czech Beech Piano Stool, 1940s

Chairish

$285

Maximum height: 65 cm (25.6 in) Minimum height: 43 cm (16.9 in) Diameter: 40 cm (15.7 in) This piano stool is a fascinating piece of furniture that stands right at the transitional crossroads of two great design eras – the turning point between Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern (1940s). Manufactured in Czechoslovakia, it embodies both the sleek lines of late interwar design and the organic functionality of early post-war modernism. The stool has undergone a careful and comprehensive restoration that honors its authentic vintage look. It features a solid and stable construction made of solid beech wood, supported by a dynamically shaped four-legged base that gives the piece a lightweight, sculpted quality. The original wood polish has been beautifully revived across the entire solid wood body, bringing back its deep, warm tones while accentuating the natural grain of the timber. The stool is fully functional, retaining its original iron screw mechanism for smooth seat height adjustment. This beautifully restored original is ready for daily use. While it serves perfectly as a traditional piano seat, its striking silhouette also makes it a wonderful accent stool, an artistic plant stand, or a unique side statement piece within both retro-inspired and high-end contemporary spaces.
