A Norwegian solid pine stool, model 522, executed in a stable three-legged construction with a naturally patinated, untreated surface that highlights the character of the wood. The underside of the seat is branded “Krogenæs Møbler”.Model 522 was produced for a relatively short period, primarily during the 1960s, and was originally designed as a traditional milking stool. Its lightweight and portable construction made it ideal for use in the Norwegian mountains, where cattle were milked during the summer grazing season. The design features a wide tripod base for stability on uneven terrain and a hand-carved, cupped seat for practical comfort.Cows, goats, and sheep continue to graze freely in the Norwegian highlands during the summer months, and stools of this type are still occasionally used today.
