This is a classic pair of Sancai stoneware garden seats in the form of green glazed elephants with raised and curled trunks. Both seat are in very good condition with normal light patina. Two-colored Sancai ware is not commonly found in garden seats and is highly desirable. These elephants would be great additions to a traditional or antiques filled space as well as incorporated into modern or contemporary design. **Sancai ceramics originated during the Tang dynasty and had a resurgence in the mid-20th century. As in the past sangcai glazed pottery is highly valued.
