The Seijaku stool has beendesigned to embody quietness in its minimal shapes, yet with a high focus on strong lines and fine details.The presence of the Seijaku stool is an invitation to explore the feeling of harmony into silence.The Seijaku stool is part of the Kawayama collection.Made from the weaving mat that covers the tatamis, the Kawayama collection takes this iconic element ofthe Japanese culture to a new dimension. Traditionally flat and straight, the tatami suddenly expands involume and curves, to become luxury homeware and contemporary furniture. Each object is made by hand,following a unique and meticulous process, which reveals the surprising structural properties and sublimatesthe vibrant effect of this woven material.The Seijaku stool comes in different colour combinations and has a removable lip.Inspired by the Asian culture and the practice of Zen, Astrid Hauton creates high quality objectsand decors, with clean lines, which invite contemplation and inspire inner calm.After graduating from ENSCI-Les Ateliers, Astrid chose to work with artisans in Vietnam, Laos andCambodia, where she collaborated with NGOs for 3 years. In contact with them, she discoveredlocal know-how and materials, and learned about oriental wisdom.Back in Paris, she created the studio in 2015 and joined the Ateliers de Paris. Following herartistic residency in Kyoto in 2017, Astrid started to study Zen philosophy and Feng-Shuiprinciples, which enlighten her on the art of living a harmonious life.Her approach to design consists of considering “interior” and “interiority” as intrinsically linked. Tocombine the art of living “at home” with the art of living “in ourselves”, in order to better inhabitthe world.Astrid Hauton Studio explores know-how and sublimates materials, to create collections ofsingular objects in limited series. The studio collaborates with prescribers, architects and brands,to jointly design soothing spaces thanks to tailor-made creations.
