Shift Stool is constructed entirely from a single offcut from post-production waste in kitchen manufacturing. The material consists of 40mm finger-jointed panels in solid walnut, oak, or beech.Finger joints are revealed in select areas, serving as a reminder of the material’s origin. Their placement is neither controlled nor designed but accepted as an integral part of the panel’s inherent logic. The form remains intentionally simple. Any perceived complexity arises through interaction and movement, as the volume subtly shifts in profile depending on the viewer’s perspective. The shape is cut using CNC, while assembly follows traditional joinery techniques.Custom dimensions or wood types may be available depending on current offcut inventory.—DetailsMaterial: Reclaimed kitchen bench offcutsTechnique: CNC cut, manual sanding and finishingFinish: Natural oil or matte lacquerPlace of manufacture: Copenhagen, DenmarkDesign: Studio Yann Gandon
