Beautiful, hand-crafted, French farmhouse milking stool on tripod legs, from the late 50's - early 60's. Made of solid wood with a rich, dark brown-colored finish tinged with hues of burnt umber, this vintage piece is unlike other stools, as no nails were used to attach the legs. Instead, they can be inserted, then screwed into place by hand, under the seat. The seat has a hand-carved, floral design on the top and some other carved designs on the edges (see photos.) Piece is in very good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time on the seat, edges and legs, none of which affect its functionality or look, rather, only contribute to its charm (see photos.) Patina also consistent with age, use and time. Piece has only been gently polished and waxed. Both sturdy, stable and functional, this fantastic, hand-made, rustic piece of craftsmanship, is perfect to use as originally intended: for sitting, or as a foot stool or even a plant stand. A great accent piece that will blend nicely into any home environment be it French country décor, modern, rustic, mid-century, traditional, rustic contemporary, etc. Legs will be unscrewed for shipping purposes. Note: All photos taken in natural, outdoor light, so colors may vary based upon brightness, reflections, angles and perspective in which they are viewed. The last two photos were taken in direct sunlight. DIMENSIONS: - Height: 38 cm - Width: 31 cm - Depth: 32 cm - Seat diameter: 26 cm - Seat height: 38 cm
