Mid Century Modern Platform Storage Bed

Featuring strong lines, exposed joinery and an enjoyably slanted headboard.This bed exhibits clean, coherent lines with angles reminiscent of the mid century era, but brought into a contemporary and modern design. The details include exposed angled bridle joints and feet that are subtle, yet instantly eye-catching. The entire bed is constructed with mortise and tenon joinery (super strong) and is finished with a hand rubbed oil/wax to keep a close to wood feel but also protect from a lifetime of use.The drawers, if storage option is added, suspend from the bed and do not go all the way to the floor giving a much lighter and airy feel than traditional storage beds, while providing the same storage capacity.Our goal with this bed has been, first and foremost, to construct a piece of furniture that will last well over 50 years without issue. A key advantage of purchasing from a smaller scale shop is that we can justify losing our minds on details such as grain orientation and joinery reinforcement. The pulls for the drawers are hide leather wrapped around a brass rod and the drawer joinery is also pinned with brass for a subtle, but interesting contrast.
