Gorgeous mid 19th C Syrian wedding chest with mother of pearl and wire inlay. The inlay is remarkably intact for an item of this age, and the intricate inlay is exquisite. The lid lifts up to reveal a single large compartment. There is a prior repair to the top. of the chest which is not visible from the outside. The bottom of the chest also has a very fine, barely noticeable age related crack. This piece is a show stopper and very versatile- can be used at the entrance, in the living room or in a bedroom as an elegant storage piece.
