An antique Chinese Qing Dynasty period red lacquer treasure chest from the 19th century with gilded calligraphy, low drawer and brass hardware. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this treasure chest showcases a red lacquer perfectly complimenting its clean and elegant lines. The chest features a rectangular domed lid opening thanks to a traditional brass medallion lock to reveal a brown interior offering convenient storage opportunities. The façade showcases gilded calligraphy referring to happiness and longevity. This treasure chest was therefore possibly a wedding gift, offered as part of the dowry. The façade's lower section presents a single drawer with ornate brass pull while the sides comprise of C-scroll handles allowing the piece to be moved more easily. The ensemble is raised on a conforming plinth. With its clean lines and red lacquer, this Chinese Qing Dynasty treasure chest from the 19th century will bring a pop of color to any home, perhaps placed in a bedroom or living room.
