Dating to the 19th century when India was still an English colony, this Anglo-Indian style teak trunk retains original iron bindings and has aged beautifully to easily double as a kind of coffee table. The case has a striking patina of fantastic texture and grain pattern in the solid teak, leading one to wonder about all the stories it might tell after traveling around the world. The hinged top has two forged iron hasps that would have been secured with an iron or steel pin. When open, a single chain holds the lid, preventing it from falling back. There is a single forged handle on either side of the box for carrying. Found in England, the trunk originates in the Northern Indian state Rajasthan. Please view the detailed images to see more.
