Primitively decorated / painted wedding coffin from Germany, this is a different model with convex lid and soft pink color. The coffin has beautiful painted panels with flowers. This characteristic specimen shows some old repairs and wear of the original paint, especially on the lid. It used to be customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was afterwards placed on the farm in a showroom that was only rarely used on high visits or special occasions. Thus, a beautiful and decorative piece of history. The dating is in the second half of the 19th century. 48cm high, 93cm wide, 66cm deep. This item shows signs of heavy use and weathered old paint. But it is restored in a manner it is ready for daily use without losing its characteristic appearance.
