This is a sterling silver and amethyst oval shaped box; circa early 1900's with intricate engraving. What makes this box which was originally used for carrying medication ("pill box") so different is the swing opening. It is adorned with a beautiful amethyst stone. You will note the authentication that this is indeed sterling silver in the photo. No cleaning solutions have been appllied to the interior of the box so as to preserve its original state as much as possilbe. This item belonged to my grandmother and was passed down to me. The box dimensions are appproximately 2 inches by 1.5 inches when closed.
