Elegant chinoiserie chest, with a detailed gold design, on a black background, on both front and top, as well as sides. No design on back, and basically a little rough. Meant to be placed against a wall or other surface. It might be elm wood, but I'm not sure. Nicely carved wood details on bottom legs and top sides. Very pretty brass lock with an elegant etched design. Bottom drawers have brass pulls, and there are four brass hinges on the swing doors. Two drawers measuring 12.25" x 12.25" x 4" high Two swing doors opening to almost 180 degrees NO INTERIOR SHELF It is in very good vintage condition with only minor nicks that can easily be touched up. You might want to have the black and gold panels re-lacquered as the original lacquer, or shellacking, isn't excellent (images #9 and #17). There's also, as part of the wood, a circle on the left door. Not sure of the reason. However it isn't noticeable unless one goes looking for it (image #4). Other than that, the piece is in excellent vintage condition. Structurally sound with both door and drawers in working order. The brass hasn't been polished, and it's in its original vintage condition. The interior of the drawers are rough, as well as the back. Depending on your computer screen the wood might look like it is red. It isn't It is a reddish brown.
