The coffer was probably produced between 1650 and 1700. It is entirely original and still retains its wrought iron hardware especially the very decorative lock plate and hasp. The coffer is of exceptional size and has probably derived from a mediaval country mansion from the north of Spain i.e. Catalonia. Even more remarkable is its original delicately carved plinth.
