Part of a large collection of ornate Victorian wicker that was collected over the years by a Senator's wife. This sewing cabinet was named for George Washington's wife due to its style. The two side compartments have hinged tops and the centre compartment has as pullout / pull-out basket for works in progress. Made of tightly woven wicker, the pullout / pull-out drawer has a woven diamond shape in its centre. These were very popular during the 1920s. In today's world the wicker ones are quite rare. It would be a perfect gift for a someone who does needlework of any kind.
