Can you tame a star? The textural nature of wood lights up through a kaleidoscope of different species arranged in a sunburst: the optical effects represented by the stone inlay work present in the churches and palazzi of Venice. A hybrid piece of furniture which aims to both fill the role of container, while also functioning as a sculptural element, the custodian of dreams and desires. Functional and decorative at the same time, Astro – designed by Venetian design studio DEBONADEMEO – bears testament to the very high manufacturing and cabinetry skill of MEDULUM, applied in this case to the creation of a trunk for contemporary furnishing. The slender metal structure, designed as a pedestal of museum memory, supports a streamlined volume which exalts the natural look of the wood it is composed of. The geometric rhythm of the sunburst wedges hides the perimeter of the door, which allows the item to open up, revealing an internal storage compartment organised with metal shelves.
