A late Baroque walnut and crotchet drop-leaf chest with rosewood trim. The curved front features three drawers, while the upper drop-leaf door features an internal cabinet with two drawers surmounted by open compartments. The central door has a sliding shelf underneath, concealing secret drawers. The handles and escutcheons are chiseled and gilded bronze, while the feet and apron are curved and carved. Veneto, mid-18th century. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
