A fine large English period George I cabinet on chest of patinated walnut from the 18th century. Featuring burr walnut-figured veneers and attractive brass hardware throughout. The top tier with cavetto cornice over a cushion moulded chart drawer above a pair of burr walnut veneered doors, with period brass hardware. The cabinet opens to reveal an extensive arrangement of burr walnut veneered drawers surrounding a cupboard door. When the door is opened and the two right facing drawers are removed, a false cupboard back slides to the right, revealing three hidden drawers. The bottom tier features a prominent waist moulding that separates the two parts of the piece - with two long drawers over two long drawers - each oak-lined drawer with decorative escutcheons.
