This beautiful and rare Italian cassettiera schedario (filing chest of drawers) was produced by the Schirolli company, dating to the mid-20th Century, likely the 1950s. The design is a sophisticated piece of storage architecture, embodying the refined and functionalist elegance associated with the work of Gio Ponti during the period. The cabinet is finished in a polished mahogany veneer, lending a rich, warm tone to the piece while its clean lines and functional form root it firmly in Mid-Century Italian design. Its imposing scale and elegant material choice allow it to seamlessly bridge the gap between office utility and residential statement piece. The cabinet is functionally designed for archive storage, composed of eighteen shallow drawers, each with a distinctive drop-down, or ribalta, front. This unique design detail maintains a sleek facade while offering easy access to the contents. The mahogany veneer covers the entire structure, highlighting the material's natural grain and deep color. It provides ample, organized storage suitable for a modern office, a collector's studio, or even an unconventional dresser or chest of drawers in a bedroom setting. The sheer volume of storage coupled with the piece's narrow depth makes it an exceptionally useful and space-efficient item.Overall, the cabinet is presented in good vintage condition, exhibiting visible wear consistent with decades of professional use, which adds authentic charm and character to its history. Each drawer: 14.25” wide by 3.75” tall. Three units available. Units can be stacked if desired. Condition is consistent with age and normal use. Priced individually.
