A beautifully restored flat-top steamer trunk by renowned New York luggage maker Crouch & Fitzgerald, featuring its original enameled brass maker’s plaque on the lid, C&F insignia on the two side latches, Crouch & Fitzgerald N.Y. on the center locking latch (working Key is included), plus the original fabric label that was on the interior lining. While the interior fabric was stripped from the interior, we retained this label so that it could be re-incorporated with any future interior lining. The interior can be outfitted with new leather or fabric, or can be outfitted as a mini-bar for cups and bottle service. Contact us if you would like a quote for either option. Founded in 1839, Crouch & Fitzgerald was one of America’s oldest and most respected luxury leather goods companies, celebrated for crafting finely made travel trunks, valises, and accessories for the affluent traveler. Their trunks rivaled those of Louis Vuitton and Goyard in quality and prestige during the golden age of travel. This trunk showcases a solid wood interior with warm patina, exterior clad in deep brown leather, trimmed with steel hardware and hardwood slats, and fitted with iron-bound corners, riveted strapping, and brass latches marked with the C&F insignia. The interior has been carefully refinished, preserving the character of the aged wood while making it clean and usable for storage or repurposing. Its proportions make it well-suited for use as a cocktail table, drinks cabinet, blanket chest, or decorative storage piece. With minor adaptations, it could also serve as a bar cabinet, entryway bench, or coffee table. Excellent for display or practical use in traditional, eclectic, industrial, or steampunk interiors. - Signed on the lid with an embossed brass plaque: "Crouch & Fitzgerald New York" - Hardware also stamped "C&F" and "Crouch & Fitzgerald N.Y." - Restored inside and out, ready for functional or decorative use.
