The American Independence Collection was a limited edition by American Drew during the 1980s, during the last days of the great American independent furniture industry, before disastrous offshoring of manufacturing resulting in inferior products made in Asia. This collection features traditional, 18th-century styling based upon furniture in Philadelphia's independence Hall, characterized by solid cherry wood and high-end craftsmanship. American Drew was founded in 1927 in North Carolina. Perhaps it's ironic that this furniture, and the furniture used by the Patriots in Philadelphia in 1776, was in the Georgian style -- named for Great Britain's King George III.
