Elegant Spanish cabinet (vargueño) from the 17th century, finely crafted in walnut and exotic woods. The front features a fall-front door that opens to reveal an exquisitely decorated interior with lemonwood marquetry, numerous small drawers, and a hidden compartment cleverly concealed within one of them. The original wrought iron fittings with traces of gilding remain intact, showcasing the cabinet’s authenticity and craftsmanship. The supporting table is of a later date. This type of cabinet was traditionally used to store documents and valuables, representing the height of Spanish artistry and refinement during the Baroque period.
