Thomas Chippendale carved, gold gilt oversized display cabinet with unique, serpentine fronted glazed front panel and side doors with locks. What a find, this is the editors choice piece for this month, it has a Chippendale style carved solid platform base, Chippendale style carvings all over the top display section that has the original high Victorian gold gilding, this piece is pure quality. The glass is serpentine curved which was insanely expensive when this was made, only the finest glass blowers could make panels like this, for every one that succeeded there would be thousands that failed to achieve the sophistication of this curve The cabinet has two very large glass shelves mounted by the original phosphor bronze fittings, each door has a small lock and key which does work to an extent, they are very small so with some wiggling the doors unlock We have cleaned waxed and polished it, it is in perfect period condition throughout, there will be normal age and use related patina marks here and there Dimensions Height:- 181cm Width:- 120cm Depth:- 65cm
