Chairish

$2,557

Rare and important "dan" swivel chair in beech bentwood produced at fritz hansen, copenhagen in the 1930s. The chair was designed by magnus stephensen and is considered an icon in the history of danish modern design. The seat can be adjusted up and down by turning the top of the chair. Later black leatherette upholstery. Marked "fh dan" on the underside. Around 1930, the first danish-designed chairs in steam-bent beech wood, called the dan chair, were brought to market. The dan chair remains a highly important link in furniture production innovation, and for danish design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
