1950’s Original French Nicolle Industrial Swivel Chair. One of our all time favourite products, exceptional in design with the minimal use of materials yet strong, well proportioned design. In 1913 Paul-Henry Nicolle started his industrial journey as a metal presser and stamper and developed this famous stool in 1933 (and also a wonderful stool with the eponymous whale tail backrest) for use in his own factory before demand saw it sold throughout France. The original design featured three legs but was changed to four in 1936. Shot at seat height: 66 cm – highest seat height: 85. The chair is fully functional with a simple swivel/height adjusting mechanism. Original paint. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
