Odyssey Large Headrest by Eugeni Quitllet for BD Barcelona, 2022A strong presence with pristine comfort. Inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, Eugeni Quitllet’s Odyssey armchair recalls a retro-futurism that gazes towards the stars.Drawing from his creative idiosyncrasies, Quitllet merges Kubrick’s visual language with the soft luxury of smooth curves, a carved seat and a comfortable ergonomic shape. Available in multiple finishes, the Odyssey is adaptable, allowing a sitter to swivel and rock or lean back into two headrest options. It fits diverse needs and balances function and an astral form. The Odyssey’s curves envelop the sitter, and its components almost float together, locking into an organic body that could fit in a home as much as a starship.Important information regarding images of products:Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, these images are only to present interior design proposals. Eugeni Quitllet was born in Ibiza in 1972. He moved to Barcelona after studying at Art School in the Balearic Islands and obtaining a Design and Interior Design diploma. Quitllet then met Philippe Stark and began working at his agency in Paris. Ten years later, after creating some of the most exciting designs of the early ‘00s, he opened his agency in Barcelona. His vision and future-forward designs are sleek and unique. He is now based in Dallas, where he continues using today's manufacturing to create his designs for tomorrowAbout the manufacturer:BD has been around for over half a century. It was founded in a nightclub in 1972 by a bunch of young architects and designers from Barcelona. They broke into the design world with a new vision: to produce and market their designs, and the designs of their friends with complete creative freedom and design criteria. Beginning with the designs of contemporaries like Ettore Sottsass, Rennie Mackintosh and Álvaro Siza, BD provoked a curiosity about design. These early pieces helped bring international recognition to the country’s design scene, and many of them still exist today. They are an international design company run by a collective ownership —Apartamento Magazine (Nacho Alegre, Omar Sosa, Marco Velardi), Taller Bofill (Pablo Bofill, Ricardo Bofill, Luna Paiva, Hernán Cortés, Fernando de la Mata), and Igor Urdampilleta from Arquitectura-G— all architects, publishers and designers. Along with one of the founders, Oscar Tusquets, this group fosters the same nonconformist spirit BD has had since its beginnings. Their independence as a company fuels their intentions and supports this purpose. BD are now expanding their design dialogue to delve into diverse realms of creativity, in design and in everything they do.
