1920s French Art Deco Lamp With A Signed Daum Glass Shade

Chairish

$1,495

This is an authentic table lamp from the Art Deco period (1920's to 1930's). The base is wrought iron that features a snake that makes its way up the stem of the lamp along with some leaves also done in wrought iron. The glass shade is made by the renowned glassmaker, Daum in Nancy, France, and is a warm orange color. It bears the signature of Daum Nancy along with the cross of Lorrain (see picture 9). This lamp has been entirely restored by an expert in France, which involves removing any rust from the metal and then applying wax which is heated by a blowtorch to give it the rich dark finish. It has also been rewired in this country with a screw-type socket and an American plug and is ready for you to use. It should only be used with a maximum 40-watt bulb (included). The magic of these lamps happens when you turn it on and see the delightful warm glow that emanates from the mottled glass shade. For those of you who are connoisseurs of fine Art Deco lamps or Daum glassware, this piece would be the crowning gem of your collection! Height: 17" (43 cm) Base: 9" x 8" (23 x 20.3 cm) Shade: 5 1/2" high x 3 1/8" diameter at the base (14 cm x 8 cm)
