1920s Petite Art Deco French Boudoire Table Lamp, Original Finish, Degue Art Glass Shade

Offering a tasty "amuse table" from France's vibrant 1920s. The stylized Art Deco floral designs on the base couldn't be more classic for the period, or more excellently accomplished. The polished nickel (possibly chrome) adorns what the metal base that the French always call "bronze," which in fact is "laiton," brass. I love to correct them, but they often hold fast. The art glass shade is nicely signed "Degué" and changes quite a bit once the bulb is engaged. I've included a picture with the bulb off (with purple, blue, and mottled white colors), so you can see how it looks under those circumstances. That change is often what art glass is all about! Of course the photography is responsible for a fair amount of the warm colors you see, it's less warm in reality. The lamp stands 13 inches high, the base being about 5 wide by 3 1/2 deep. Rewired but still employing the original French porcelain bayonet socket, which eclipses in quality anything American that might replace it. You can easily find bayonet bulbs on the Internet, in a wide variety of wattages, some even made for use with 110-120 voltage (European is 220). If you buy European bayonet-mounting bulbs they will still light up, just at one-half their rated wattage. A real jewel, perfect to light up just the right spot.
