An absolutely amazing pair of 1950 Mid Century, plaster lamps by Frederic Weinberg for Beaux Arts (BALC} Lamps have figural "carvings" and are hand painted with a Trompe l'Oeil rock formation faux design. The body of each lamp is a formation of random concentric layers and textures to simulate a natural stone into which two pairs of Weinberg’s iconic dancing figures are “carved” and hand shaded with golden highlights on each lamp. Weinberg, known for his signature abstract dancer design, often used this same design in his monumental back lit wall hangings and other sculptures. BEYOND RARE! This lamp design, due to its fragile plaster composition and limited production is incredibly rare…AS A PAIR..it is hardly ever seen in the wild! Each Lamp is made of solid plaster and therefore is quite substantial and heavy. Lamps will be pack individually to insure safe arrival. (At no extra cost to the buyer) As is, without shades, each lamp base measures: approximately 2 feet tall. The diameter varies due to the random nature of the design.. Perhaps 6-8 inches in diameter. Definitely a rare and wonderful acquisition for the avid and passionate mid century collector!
