Deep lacquered cinnabar red with raised gilt chinoiserie figures — pagodas, seated figures, and trailing botanicals — encircling a classic vase-form body that widens at the shoulder and tapers gracefully to a dark wood base. Each lamp and vantage point is a unique scene. The surface has a matte, almost ceramic quality that makes the hand-painted, gilded details pop. Aged brass cap and harp hardware complement the warm gold of the painted decoration throughout, and the pierced fretwork finials are each stamped with the Chinese character 福 (fú), meaning luck or good fortune. Rich enough to anchor a traditional room, graphic enough to hold their own in a more contemporary setting. Both lamps are fully functional, with Chinese export bases and American Leviton hardware.
