This is a pair of black enamel opaline lamps in a vase shape. The round chiseled and gilt bronze mount on a pearls frieze over four acanthus-shape legs. The decorative white-painted enamel scenes represent a young boy walking through the vegetation and picking plants. This kind of decoration evokes the work of the American artist Mary Gregory (1856-1908), known for her white enamel paintings decorations on glass, representing stylized children in an outdoor setting, often playing with things. This kind of decor is also sometimes called 'cameo paintings'. The mount's top is marked with 'C.R. Fabrication Française'.
