Offered is a stunning, late 19th-century antique patinated bronze kerosene table lamp in its highly desirable, original oil-burning condition. The heavy, cast-metal urn-shaped base features an artistic relief design of birds nestled among branches and floral vines, heavily influenced by the Japanese Meiji period and Aesthetic Movement styles. The base is beautifully flanked by two stylized, decorative handles and rests on an ornate, multi-footed stand.The lamp features its original operating hardware, including a period-correct "Eagle" flat-wick burner mechanism manufactured by the renowned Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Company. The burner adjustment wheel turns smoothly.Completing this exceptional piece is a beautiful, frosted glass globe shade decorated with delicate, etched filigree laurel wreaths and ribbon bows, topped by a clear glass chimney. Condition Report:Excellent antique condition. The bronze base retains a gorgeous, deep, unpolished historic patina with minimal wear consistent with age. The metal has never been drilled, modified, or converted to electricity. The frosted glass globe and clear chimney are free of major cracks or structural damage. Burner gears move smoothly.
